The Tourism Educators Conference travels to different British Columbia universities each year to connect tourism instructors and faculties by learning about professional development and current industry trends. In 2014, Thompson Rivers University hosted this two and a half day conference on campus in Kamloops, British Columbia. I assisted by planning a social evening on the second last day of the conference.
Throwback Thursday was a 1970’s themed dinner and dance at Harper Mountain Ski Resort. The afternoon provided a cash bar with a signature drink, Harvey Wallbangers, and outdoor games, such as badminton, beersbee, and potato cannons. A delicious pig roast was served outdoors with summer foods like cole slaw, caesar salad, and roasted potatoes. For dessert, guests enjoyed roasted s’mores on an open fire. With groovy tunes by local band, Paisley Groove, and great sound equipment by GK Sound, guests danced long into the night. I assisted throughout the conference with on-site event assistance, consultation of logo design, and designing the schedule.
