The Kamloops YMCA-YWCA was pleased to present the 11th annual Power of Being a Girl Conference on October 19th, 2016. This one-day conference, for girls aged 12 to 14 years old, was designed for girls by girls to explore the challenges of growing up, in a fun and empowering way. Girls are powerful and our interactive workshops explored the healthy ways that girls can find, keep, and share that power.
As the Event Coordinator for the 2016 conference, I had a lot of fun working on event logistics, sponsorship packages, volunteer coordination, workshop facilitation and design, marketing and press releases, and much more. It has been a pleasure to grow from a volunteer to a contracted staff member with this empowering, fun event. One hundred and thirty five girls attended the event at the Tournament Capital Centre.
